Summary
This event is the fourth in the RSGB Region 13 series of 2024. There will be a five transmitter course using the 80m band.

The car park is tiny, if it is full, please park considerately on the service road.

Directions
The area is conveniently accessed from Ratby, which can be reached from M1 NORTHBOUND only Junct 21A, or the A46 Leicester western bypass. For Southbound access from the M1 leave at Junction 22.

Format of Event
The event will conform to the general principles of IARU events. There will be a maximum of five transmitters plus an MO beacon at the finish.

Sport Ident electronic punching will be used for this event. This system not only gives your time to complete the course but also provides your split times from each transmitter to the next.
If you are an Orienteer and already have an SI 'dibber' then please use it at the event. If you do not have a 'dibber', one can be hired for £1 but it is £40 if you lose it.

Map
Scale is 1:10,000. Size A4 landscape. Printed in four colours on waterproof paper.

There will be a time limit of 2.5 hours to complete the course. Competitors who are over time will be listed in the results below those who are inside the time and have found at least one transmitter.

1000 Registration opens. Information sheets issued to ALL entrants.
1030-1130 Starts at 5 minute intervals
1400 Courses close

Entries

  • Entry fee is £3.
  • The results will be posted on this web site as soon as possible after the event.

    Procedures

    Registration, Start and Finish for the competition will be in the car park.
    In accordance with the informality of the event the organisers will not require you to deposit your receiver in a pound before the transmitters start sending. They do expect you to respect the spirit of this concession by refraining from using your receiver until reporting to officials in the start area and then only under their supervision.
    The 'flags'for the competition will be 15cm side length.

    Safety

    Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. No smoking in the forest. Whistles should be carried (the emergency signal is 6 blasts repeated at 1 minute intervals).

    Loan Equipment

    Receivers for 3.5MHz are available on loan at no extra cost (unless you lose the receiver, when the cost is £60).
