We are piggy backing this event on top of the TVOC foot-O event and there will be many orienteers in the woods.
Procedures
Evidence of finding a transmitter will be by 'collecting' a letter of the alphabet at each one. A pen should be carried to record these.
In accordance with the informality of the event the organisers will not
require you to deposit your receiver in a pound before the transmitters
start sending. They do expect you to respect the spirit of this
concession by refraining from using your receiver until reporting to
officials in the start area and then only under their supervision.
The transmitters will switch off at 1400 hence start between 1000-1130 if you want to have the full time limit of 150 minutes available to you.
Presentations
This is the final event in the 2024 ARDF series and there will be a presentation to the winner of the league and the runner-up. Please be there for the presentations which will be held just as soon as a results of this day are added to the table. Hopefully this will be no later than 1400.
Safety
Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their
own risk.
A whistle should be carried and the emergency signal is 6 short blasts
on the whistle, repeated at one minute intervals.
The area is used by a horse riding association, walkers, dog-walking and
general public. Please be courteous to all other users in the wood.
Horses: Please be very aware of any horses. Make a noise at a distance
to alert them you are there, particularly if approaching from behind,
and especially from the side if you are coming out of the wood. Or
better still try and avoid them altogether.
The Safety bearing is North through the woods until you meet Bottrells Lane
