'Come and Try It' at Donisthorpe Woodland Park, Leics

Summary
The event is being run on a Sunday and comprises tuition and practical exercises to help you to master using ARDF receivers on 80m.
We will start with finding out about an 80m DF receiver and then use it to locate a single transmitter. From there we will move on to finding two transmitters that send consecutively, one after the other. Finally there will be a 5 transmitter 80m course for you to enjoy.

Location
Donisthorpe Woodland Park
The car park is at the north end of the Woodland Park and the entrance is just south of the railway bridge at Moira. The Grid Reference is SK314157

Timings
Please try to arrive between 1015 and 1030 for a 1030 start

Equipment:
Receivers for 80m will be loaned to you and maps will be provided.
Please bring the following items if possible:

A compass with a rectangular baseplate
A whistle (for safety reasons)
A spirit based pen (red) with a reasonably fine tip
A packed lunch
A lightweight A4 board to which the map can he attached with plastic tape.
A pair of headphones with a 3.5mm plug (the loan ones are a bit tatty!).

Wear clothing suitable for walking in the woods and a waterproof if the weather forecast is inclement

There will tuition and practical exercises to help you to master using the equipment on 80m.
As noted above the day will finish with a 5 transmitter 80m course for you to enjoy

No charge will be made for this training day

Safety

Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. No smoking in the forest. Whistles should be carried (the emergency signal is 6 blasts repeated at 1 minute intervals).
