Summary
This event is Day 3 of the 2026 RSGB ARDF Championships.
This will be a five transmitter course using the 2m band.

Directions
The area is conveniently accessed from the A5 at the roundabout at the west end of the Atherstone by-pass, signposted Coleshill B4116 (Merevale Lane)
Follow Merevale Lane up the hill to a T junction. Turn left here and go straight on to the junction with Coleshill Road.

Parking
Parking is tight and we are using the wide grass verge. Do not come in a low slung vehicle!

There are other places for one or two cars along Coleshill Road.
Coleshill Road is quite busy, so take care to stay on the verge.

Format of Event
The event will conform to the general principles of IARU events. There will be five transmitters to be found
The transmitters will be separated by at least 400m and the nearest transmitter to the Start will be more than 400m away.

Sport Ident 'punching' will be used to confirm that each transmitter has been visited. There will be 'dibbers' for hire by competitors who do not have one of their own.

Map
Scale is 1:10,000. Size A4 landscape. Printed in four colours on waterproof paper.

There will be a time limit of 2.5 hours to complete the course. Competitors who are over time will be listed in the results below those who are inside the time and have found at least one transmitter.

Timetable
1000 Registration opens. Information sheets issued to ALL entrants.
1030-1130 Starts at 5 minute intervals
1330 Courses close

1400 Presentation of the trophies for all three days of BC2026

Entries

  • Entry fee is £10.
  • The results will be posted on this web site as soon as possible after the event.

    Procedures

    Registration will be on the grass at the junction of Coleshill Road and Bentley Common Road. (There is space for more parking here and 4x4 vehicles are asked to use this (it is a bit bumpy))
    The 'flags'for the competition will be 15cm side length.

    Safety

    Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. No smoking in the forest. Whistles should be carried (the emergency signal is 6 blasts repeated at 1 minute intervals).

    Loan Equipment

    Receivers for 144MHz are available on loan at no extra cost (unless you lose the receiver, when the cost is £50). Contact the organiser (address below) to reserve.
